Does my child need any experience?

No. Most of our Under 8s are new to basketball, and our coaches start with the basics.

How much time is it each week?

About 2 hours: one training and one game.

We have a specific game-day uniform for purchase. For training, sports shoes and a water bottle are all they need.

Can friends play together?

Friends can ask to be in the same team. We'll do our best, but we also balance teams, so we can't promise every request.

What if we register late?

We'll do everything we can to find a spot. In some age groups, there may not be a spot, so register as soon as you can to give us the best chance to place your child appropriately.

There's still time to join this season. Our Under 8s teams are for boys and girls who are new to basketball or just starting out. No experience needed: our coaches start with the basics.

What Under 8s looks like

Under 8s is about having fun and learning the basics: dribbling, passing, shooting and being part of a team.

Training: once a week on at Bayswater North Primary School.
Games: Saturday mornings at venues in the local area as part of in the Knox Junior Domestic Competition
Season: Summer 26/27 finishes in at the end of April with an appreciation round for under 8's
Coaching: every team has a lead coach there to help your child develop their skills and love for the game.

What it costs

The season costs $235 per player. That covers registration and game fees. You'll also need a uniform and sports shoes.

You may be able to put a Get Active Kids voucher towards the cost.

Boys and girls welcome

Girls and boys play in separate girls' and boys' teams. Friends are welcome to sign up together. When we form teams, we look at friends, schools and training nights where we can, while keeping every team balanced.
