KSC Phoenix Histoy

Where we started

Knox Sporting Club, better known as KSC Phoenix, was founded in 1986 by Ralph Brown. The club began with two sports, indoor cricket and basketball, which is how it became Knox Sporting Club.

Our basketball story started as a family affair. The first team was an Under 18 men’s side for Ralph’s sons, soon joined by a mixed team. Under 16 and Under 14 boys’ teams came together over the following years. Eventually Ralph added an Under 8 girls’ team so his daughter could play too.

From that first team, Phoenix has grown into more than 20 teams of boys and girls aged 5 to 23 in the Knox Junior Basketball Competition. We’re still volunteer-run, and we still believe every child should have a team to belong to.

Celebrating Our 40th Birthday

KSC Phoenix celebrated it's 40th birthday in 2026 at the State Basketball Centre. The club was grateful for the support of Knox City Council who financially contributed towards the event and supporters who made donations to our silent auction.

KSC Phoenix 40th Birthday celebration supporters included:
